How to Dress for a Senior (or regular) School Picture

If you're going to be a senior this fall, like me, you probably have your yearbook pictures coming up! Maybe your school is different but my school does special senior pictures where everyone wears black and the picture is a bit nicer than what the rest of the grades do. Aside from the "formal" attire, where everyone wears black, you also take "casual" pictures. In the casual pictures you decide what to wear, and there really aren't rules. Now I'm going to show you the outfit I'll be wearing (with a few tweaks!) and I'll also give you some tips on how to dress your best! My outfit is shown below.
long-sleeve "Lace Panel Top" in navy blue (also in black and heather gray) from Forever21
$8.80

dark wash skinny jeans from Delias (I'll be wearing similar jeans, but not these exact ones)
$44.50
"Blend" flats in blush from Steve Madden (I won't be wearing these shoes either, but something close)
$89.95

So that's basically my outfit, plus some simple accessories. Now for the tips:
1-don't wear something too skimpy, for obvious reasons
2-go for dark jeans; skirts, shorts and dresses will all cut off your leg probably somewhere around the thigh, whereas dark jeans will make your legs look longer and leaner
3-stay with darker colors; dark colors tend to make you look slimmer, but if you look great in a lighter color, go for it! do hold off on really bright or neon colors
4-stick with solids; wearing prints or patterns will really detract from your face
5-wear a shirt with a pretty neckline; showing a little skin around your neck will frame your face nicely, just don't go too low cut
6-keep your accessories simple; again, anything too crazy will take the attention away from your face
7-wear neutral colored shoes; this doesn't necessarily mean a blush/skin tone color, you can definitely wear black, gray or brown as well
8-TRY ON OUTFITS BEFORE PICTURE DAY; this should be obvious, but you'll never know how something really looks until you try it on, and trying on multiple outfits will give you more options and insight into what looks best on you!

If you have any questions, please ask! And let me know what you plan on wearing for your picture, too :)
